Details and timelines of Mullingar town centre works – as provided by Careys to Mullingar Town Team

Last night we received notes from a meeting between Mullingar Town Team and Careys, the company carrying out the works in the centre of Mullingar, which took place on February 12 last.

This information was presented at a public meeting of Mullingar Town Team on February 18.

Angela Maher. Mullingar Town Team said: “We have received many concerns and complaints from retailers, residents and customers in respect of the lack of information available to the public regarding the road works.

“We were delighted to have a frank and open meeting with the contractors, Carey, and they gave us a heads up in respect of the road works over the coming months.

“They were under the impression that Westmeath County Council were informing the business community and when they realised, that this did not happen, they were happy to give us the information.

“The project manager is happy to meet us again over the coming weeks and months to provide any updates and changes as the works continue.

“As you are aware the stop and go lights at the Dominick Street junction have been removed, and this aligns with the information we received from Careys. We are delighted that this timeline is accurate and really appreciate Careys co-operation.

Health and Safety concerns were raised at the meeting and we will keep a close watch on this.”
