International Film Festival

Tickets are on sale for the inaugural Mullingar International Film Festival in February, which will raise money for TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands).

Organised by Noel McIntyre, who has had great success with his debut film ‘I Created You’, the festival is in the Mullingar Park Hotel, on Thursday February 20.

The night will kick off with a drinks reception at 7pm followed by the opening film at 8pm.

Seven films will screen in all, including an Irish premier from a Hollywood director.

The Blizzards will also be there on the night for the screening of their mockumentary ‘The Blizzards: Behind the Music’.

It will feature the local première of ‘I Created You’, which profiles the work of local wood-carver Richie Clark. Shot in Mullingar, it and features an original score performed by the RTÉ National Concert Orchestra.

The festival will also feature award-winning short films by some of the best regarded Irish and international filmmakers.

‘I Created You’ has now been screened in film festivals in 11 countries across five continents, and Noel won six international awards, including Best New Filmmaker, and Best Sound Design.

“It’s been a life-changing experience for me, and I want to build on this experience to do some good for the community,” says Noel.

“We will be selling tickets to the public, offering them a chance to enjoy a programme of highly-rated short films which they would otherwise not get the opportunity to enjoy.” (Tickets are €20.)
