Eddie Rocket's coming to Mullingar
The local economy has received a boost with the announcement that 35 new jobs are to be created in Mullingar this summer with the opening of a state of the art Eddie Rocket’s restaurant in the centre of town.
The popular franchise is to open in a unit on Pearse Street next door to McDonald’s. The new restaurant is being opened by the locally based firm, Bronxville Investments Ltd, which is also the franchise holder of the Eddie Rocket’s outlet in Tullamore.
A spokesperson for Bronxville Investments told the Westmeath Examiner that the new restaurant has been in the pipeline for a long time and is a vote of confidence in the town of Mullingar and its people.
“I think that it will work well. Mullingar is a good town with a strong centre and hopefully Eddie Rocket’s will enhance the centre even more. With Shaw’s Nationwide and Eddie Rocket’s opening up in the coming months, it should be a real boost to the local economy.”
All of the 35 new jobs created by the opening of his new restaurant will go to people living in Mullingar and surrounding towns and villages, the spokesman said.
“The majority of our staff will be young people from the Mullingar area. Eddie Rocket’s is a fun kind of place to work in and the staff will be quite a young age group. This is the section of society that is finding it the hardest to find work.”
The Bronxville spokesperson says that the firm, which is owned by a local businessman, is looking forward to opening in Mullingar and giving local people a new dining option this summer.
The restaurant will also have a “state of the art” fit-out, which merges Eddie Rocket’s popular American diner theme with, what the spokesman says will be a “more modern edge”.
“The main thing about Eddie Rocket’s is that it is not fast food, it is fast casual dining,” he said. “The food is great - it’s always a fresh product. The chicken and beef are fresh – they are not frozen. It’s all about families. It’s a family restaurant and kids absolutely love it.”
