The weather over the summer period has been unreliable, to say the least and, unfortunately, the excess rain which fell on Friday night and Saturday morning this weekend resulted in the closure of the golf course which disappointed many people.Let us hope that the weather will improve in the coming week as the President"s Prize qualifying rounds are scheduled to take place next weekend. Prior to the heavy rain on Friday night a three ball mixed scramble, which was kindly sponsored by D. McHugh Quick-Fit tyres, Delvin, took place and it was very well supported.Afterwards a number of outstanding prizes, as well as those for the scramble, were presented. The final scramble of the season will take place on Friday, August 29 at 6pm and any remaining outstanding prizes will be presented on that night.Results of the scramble are as follows:Winners: Anthony Foy, Bill Kennedy and Ann Ayres 34.7Runners-up: Christy King, Tommy Timmons and Michael McHale 36.1President"s Prize Qualifying Round Mr. Tommy McNameeAs stated above the qualifying rounds of the President"s Prize will take place next Saturday and Sunday next, August 16 and 17. The time sheets are at present displayed on the notice board in the clubhouse so please support our President by taking part in the competition. There is a block draw in operation, as is normal for this event, so it will be up to each player to establish his exact tee off time when the draw is complete which is likely be made on Friday night, August 15.Tudenham CupThe Tudenham Cup team will be playing in the semi-final of the competition on next Saturday, August 16 at 2pm. Their opponents are Castlewarden from Kildare. We wish team captain, John Ayres and the lads the very best of luck in their quest for a place in the final.
