Waiting for Godot set for Mullingar

Waiting for Godot, the famous two-act play by Irish author and playwright Samuel Beckett, will feature at Mullingar Arts Centre on Wednesday, October 8 at 8pm, for one night only.Starring celebrated Irish actors Stephen Brennan, Barry McGovern, Johnny Murphy and Alan Stanford, the Mullingar production is one stop of the Gate Theatre"s National "Godot" Tour, which begins in Tuesday, September 2 in Enniscorthy.Beckett"s most celebrated work, "Godot" is the story of a handful of characters waiting for the arrival of someone name Godot, and their long and unsatisfied wait for him has been subject to much interpretation, with reference to themes such as religion, politics, psychology and philosophy.The play was written by Beckett in France between 1948 and 1949 as "En attendant Godot", a tragicomedy in two acts, and was later translated into English and several other languages.Tickets for "Waiting for Godot" are available at Mullingar Arts Centre"s box office on (044) 9347777 at €25 apiece.
