"Winter Membership" introduced for new members

Members are reminded the the Club has introduced a 'Winter Membership' for new members who wish to join for the Winter months, with a view to taking up full membership next year.For €200, this new members are entitled to play golf for the months of Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan, and €100 of the subscription can go towards next year"s membership. First out are the Ladies Junior Foursomes in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday (full report further down) and then on Sunday the Castlebarna Trophy team are hoping to take back to back titles on Sunday. Managed by Michael McLoughlin, this team has marched confidently to their second final in a row, and with the experience gained last year, there is no reason why they should not return victorious to the clubhouse next Sunday evening.The probable team is: Thomas Rosney, Tommy Revins, Martin Heavin, Andrew Nally and Jimmy Reynolds.Ladies makeAll Ireland semiCongratulations to the Junior Foursomes team who were successful in qualifying for the semi-final of the AA Junior Foursomes Competition to be held in Limerick Golf Club on Saturday 27th September. The team fought hard to overcome a very strong Ardglass outfit in Ardee on Wednesday last. Pearse Corbett and Mary Egan were the first pairing out and they won their match 1 up on the 18th.The second pairing of Mags Galvin and Ann Whelan fought hard but eventually lost out on the 18th. However Beth Dunne and Breda Kelly won their match on the 17th to take the Moate Ladies into semi-final. The team was managed by Eileen White and Eleanor Fitzpatrick with Carmel Carroll as an able substitute . Moate will meet a team from Rathbane in Limerick next Saturday.The team is wished every success to proceed to the Final on the Sunday. Carmel was one of five who qualified to play in the Algarve in the Summer of 2009.
