The attendance at Thursdays (October 9th) meeting at Mullingar was slightly below average due to the very wet conditions which left the going on the slow side. Any position supporting trap one would have collected in six of the eleven races.Dysart owner Miss Joan Byrne supplied the winner of the 600 yds first race with To Far Out. After getting a flyer from traps she gave a smashing front running display to win by three quarters of a length in 34.02.In the 525 yds second race Rentman and Extreme Dreams disputed the lead into the home straight where Rentman found a little bit extra to win by three parts of a length in 30.19 for his Enfield owner Brian Lawlor. From a level break in the 400 yds third race Beech Grove Boy won the dash to the bend and held on to win by one and three quarter lengths from Ronaldos Perfect in 22.49. The winner is trained by Marie Moran for Moate owner Ms. Linda O"Rourke.Tyrur Adam broke in front in the 525 yds fourth race and led into the home straight where Could be Kid came from way off the pace to win by three quarters of a length in 30.15. The winner which came in from the reserve panel is owned in Kildare by Mrs. P. Blake.Frank Seery recorded the first leg of a double in the 400 yds fifth race with Kish Duchess which he trains for Edenderry owner David Hanlon. After breaking in front she made all the running to win by four lengths from Blue Castle in 22.08.The best return of the session was recorded in the 525 yds sixth race by Only Fools Rush In which is owned in Kildare by Michael O"Connor. After taking the lead at the first bend he powered home alone nine lengths clear from Beautiful Girl in 29.93.In the 400 yds seventh race Corratinner Jack won the dash to the bend and held on under pressure from Mags Nod to win by one and three quarter lengths in 22.71. The winner is owned in Cavan by Patrick Cooney.Rhode trainer Paddy McCormack supplied the winner of the 525 yds eighth race with Ardera Diana which he trains for Dublin owner A. Kelly. From a very fast break she made every yard of the running to score by four lengths from Quick Reaction in 30.01 and keep her unbeaten record intact.Frank Seery completed the double in the 400 yds ninth race with T10 Woods which he trains from Edenderry owner David Hanlon. From a level break he took the lead into the home straight and had four lengths to spare at the line from Rosmead Swift in 22.42.Killourney Pride did the business in the 525 yds tenth race for her Ferbane owner James Kenny. After taking the lead at the first bend she resisted the challenge of Brace Choice to the last bend where she found top gear into the home straight to win by three lengths in 30.20.In the 525yds eleventh race Rough Legend was unopposed in the betting market and he gave a powerful front running display to score by five lengths from Roving Scooby in 30.15. This six to four favourite is owned in Kildare by Ms. Fiona Conlon.Miss Bright Sparkles in Final on Saturday October 11th, 2008Saturday nights meeting at Mullingar was a benefit night in aid of Rhode G.A.A. Also featured on the night was the final of the Heineken Midland Oaks with the winners prize of £4,270 which went to the Alan Clancy (Clonmellon) owned Miss Bright at odds of 10/1. Rising Smoke went to traps the 5/4 favourite but it was Smiths Girl that made the running only to be denied by Miss Bright who finished best to win by a length in 29.52.Racing opened with a win for the Cyril Morris (Laois) owned Crash Magic who made all from a lively start to win by six lengths from You Teddy in 30.89 over the 550 yards trip.In an open betting second race over the 525 yds trip the Pat Tormey trained Boxer Bill turned for home with what appeared an adequate advantage by the Seamus Kenny (Offaly) owned Killourney Twist forced up in the dying strides to earn a dead heat photo verdict in 29.75.The Tommy Bolton trained Abbies Prince tried to make all the running in the third race but a powerful late surge by the Eddie Dunne trained and the Pat Cleary owned Ballinamere Lass proved successful as she forced up to win by a length and three quarters in 21.76.The fourth race went to the Gerard Dunne (Naas) owned Rasher Head which finished best to win by a length and three quarters from Springwell Scary in 29.51. Pat Loughrey"s (Mullingar) Nitro Black wound up the 2/1 favourite to do the business in the fifth race and he produced the good in fine style when leading home by an extending ten lengths from Shifting Women in a 29.75 return.Local owner Denis Hannon (Athlone) made it a double on the night when his prefix Springwell Sindy and Eve both obliged. The first leg of the double came in race six when Springwell Sindy made all the running to survive by a short head from the fast finishing Penthouse Lady in a time of 29.46.Springwell Eve completed the Hannon Double when she came home five lengths to the good from Corries Honcho in 29.71.
