This Hallowe"en discover all you wanted to know and didn"t want to know about Bats with Dr Tina Aughey from Bat Conservation Ireland.On Saturday October 25 in Belvedere Visitor Centre at 7.30 pm, learn about the 10 species of Native Irish Bats, The Batline, Bat Detectors, the Irish Vampire Bat and Bram Stoker the Irish author of Dracula.The Bat talk will be followed by a Bat walk amongst the whispering trees of Belvedere"s ancient woodlands where the different species of Bats will be identified by their Echolocation signals using a Bat Detector.Bring torches and suitable clothing for a 40-minute night time walk. Admission is free with donations to Bat Conservation Ireland welcomed.BELVEDERE GHOST TRAINOn the morning of Sunday October 26, The Belvedere Ghost Train, a specially chartered Steam Train from The Railway Preservation Society will leave Dublin Connolly and arrive in Mullingar at 11.20 am. After all passengers have been coach transferred to Belvedere, a local Ghost Train excursion will leave Mullingar at 11.40 to Enfield where the Tank Engine will take on water, and then return. This trip is ticket only and can be booked directly at Belvedere. The Dublin steam train return departs Mullingar at 3.30pm.TRICK OR TREAT TRAILTreasure Hunt at midday on Sunday and Bank holiday Monday. Arrive in good time, be on site from 11.30am. Free entry wearing Fancy Dress.FOREST OF FEARA former owner of Belvedere House Colonel Howard -Bury famously is credited for the world wide legend of The Yeti for his expedition to Everest in 1921. He managed to smuggle a Yeti Cub back to the Belvedere Estate where it has lived in the Woods ever since. Around Hallowe"en it can be seen deep in the woods foraging for food for Winter Hibernation and is particularly attracted to the Belvedere Tram.
