Kildallon on the Double

Thursday December 4th meeting at Mullingar featured three finals, the Auburn Veterinary Hospital stake, the Kuma Kennels stake and the Connollys Redmills stake. All finals were contested over the 525 yds course.The remaining eight graded races were contested over 525 yds and 400 yds. Francis Murray supplied the winner of Kuma Kennels sweepstake (winner £1025) with Gilbeyhall Rock which he trains for Tullamore owners Donal Beatty and Barry Cowen.Timely Dream broke in front and led into the back straight where the chasing Gilbeyhall Rock took control and went on to win by three lengths in 29.99.In the final of the Auburn Veterinary Hospital sweepstake (winner £640) Kildallon Icon broke in front and held pole position all the way to win by two and a half lengths from the chasing Kildallon Iris in the best return of the session of 29.95. The winner and runner-up are both trained by Martin Mulvey for Slanemore owner Anthony Weir.Saucy Cruiser broke in front in the final of the Connollys Red Mills sweepstake and held off the challenge of Fahy Queen and Maggies Honcho in the late stages to win by a quarter of a length and a short head in 30.42. The winner is owned in Portarlington by the Snoop Madra Syndicate Longwood owner Vincent Leavy supplied the winner of the 525 yds first race with Alamo Freedom.After breaking in front she held off the challenge of Calm Spirit in the late stages to win by half a length in 31.03.Lisnakill Luca broke in front in the 525 yds second race and had a comfortable four lengths victory from Tonagh Flyer in 30.84 for his Kildare owner Michael O"Connor. From a level break in the 400 yds third race Minomano took the lead rounding the bend and went on to win by three and a half lengths from Backhander in 22.41. This six to four winner is owned in Meath by James Allen.Frank Seery supplied the winner of the 400 yds fifth race with Heathfield Gem. From a level break he won the dash to the bend and went on to win by three lengths from Matador in 22.48.Springwell Billy did the business in the 400 yds seventh race for his Athlone owner Denis Hannon. This two to one favourite broke in front and made all the running to win by three lengths form T10 Woods in 22.34.Finea trainer James Devlin recorded the first leg of a double in the 400 yds ninth race with Off She Goes which he trains for his daughter Helen. From a very fast break she made every yard of the running to win by three and a half lengths from the chasing Kereigh Magpie in 21.89. In the 525 yds tenth race Sheaintalady and Springwell Nuke led to the last bend where Couldbekid took the lead on the inside into the home straight and held on to win by one and a quarter lengths from the early leaders in 30.55 The winner is owned in Kilcullen by Mrs Pamela Blake.James Devlin completed the double in the 525 yds eleventh race with Toll Prince which he trains for Dublin owner Kieran Boles. Having been led to the last bend he took control into the home straight and had three and a half lengths to spare at the line from Miss Suki Dee in 30.33.Gerry Rob John in top gear on FridayFriday December 5th meeting at Mullingar was arranged as a fund-raising fixture in support of the Chernobyl Children"s Project. All even races were graded contests. The first race over 525 yds resulted in a dead heat between Sagos Girl which is owned in Rhode by David Coleman and Rentman which is owned in Enfield by Brian Lawlor. Rentman broke in front and led into the home straight where Sagos Girl came from off the pace in the last few strides to claim a deadheat decision in 30.23.Nurney (Kildare) owner Mrs Breda Thackaberry supplied the winner of the 525 yds second race with Kildoon Heather.Having been led into the home straight by Beautiful Girl he came in the last few strides to snatch victory by half a length in 30.43. Francis Murray supplied the winner of the 525 yds third race with Gerry Rob John which he trains for Mullingar owner Dr. Paddy O"Kelly. This well supported favourite broke in front and gave a smashing front running display to power home alone a distance clear from Even Balance in an excellent return of 30.00Aghamarta lad broke in front in the 525 yds fourth race and led to the last bend where the chasing Roving Droopy took control into the home straight and went on to win by two and a half lengths from the fast finishing Athlacca Tara in 30.27. The winner is owned in Ballinea by Tony Dalton.In the 600 yds fifth race Onlyfoolsrushin broke in front and made all the running to hold off the late challenge of Effernogue Rafa by three parts of the length in 34.46 for his Kildare owner Michael O"Connor.From a level break in the 525 yds sixth race So Low won the dash to the bend and gave a powerful front running display to win by a distance from Gambling John in 30.29. The winner was recording his second victory from three starts for his Enfield owner Brian Lawlor.Cosmona Robby and Breezer Mat disputed the lead into the home straight in the 400 yds seventh race. On the run to the line Cosmona Robby found an extra gear and went on to win by four lengths in 22.36 for his Loughrea owner Tom Shaw.Michael McCormack supplied the winner of the 525 yds eighth race with Zoe"s Queen which he trains for Kildare owner John Hyland. Having been led to the last bend she took control into the home straight and held on to win by one and three quarter lengths from Home Willow in 30.42.Shutterfly broke in front in the 400 yds ninth race and held on under pressure from Ina Jam all the way to win by one and three quarter lengths in 21.88. The winner is owned in Kildare by Sean Behan.The best return of the session was posted in the 525 yds tenth race by Home Misty which is owned in Mountmellick by Marcella Campbell. From a level break she took the lead rounding the first bend and made all the running to win by four lengths from Kildoon Rev in 29.63.Frank Seery supplied the winner of the 525 yds eleventh race with Menso which he trains for Mullingar owner Noel Bennett. After taking the lead rounding the first bend he gave a smashing front running display to win by two and a half lengths from the chasing Quakeoleary in 30.32.Double for local trainer Frank SeerySaturday December 6th racing at Mullingar Greyhound Stadium was a benefit night in aid of Forgney (Co. Longford) National School. A cold frosty night with travel conditions difficult did not deter a good attendance. Punters got an early Christmas present and with fewer than eight favourites obliging from the twelve race programme. Local trainer Frank Seery, who"s kennel in top form of late had a fine double, when his charges Ballyshane Girl obliged in the second race and Strand Reta done the honours in the tenth race.In the first race over 600 yds the Francie Murray (Crookedwood) trained Without Tears went to post as an evens favourite. Burnpark Jamie owned by Cecil Dunne (Kildare) made the early pace, with Without Tears was close in contention. On the back straight Without Tears took the lead and went on to win by one and three quarter lengths from the early leader in the good time of 33.81. The winner is owned by Howard Wallace from Scotland.The second race over 525 yds was the first leg of Frank Seery"s double. Ballyshane Girl owned jointly by Pat Delaney and Donal O"Connor was well supported at 2/1 and she gave no anxiety to her followers by running out an easy winner by ten lengths from the Co. Kildare owned Highview Tara in 30.08.The third race over the 400 yds trip was a five dog event. The James Finn (Mullingar) owned Son of Ross cut out a strong gallop to the first bend but appeared to get impeded, where the winner Keen Diamond, owned in Clara by The Podge and Rodge syndicate took over and held on to win by a quarter of a length from the fast finishing Cahermore Tucks from Ballinasloe in a time of 22.66.The Francie Murray trained Daemon Eko owned by Frances Cunningham (Ballymore) went to post a 6.4 favourite in the fourth race over 600 yds. Daemon Eko made all the running in the early stages, however Candleinthewind, owned in Moate by Mrs Elizabeth Gillivan ran a very impressive race to come from a long way off the pace to win by two and a half lengths from the early leader in the good time of 33.87.The fifth and sixth races provided a nice double for trainer Tommy Bolton from Offaly. The first leg of this double went to Peppered Sprout, owned in Roscommon by Tony Griffin, where from a good break lost the lead to the Paddy Cummins owned Penthouse Lad at the first bend. Peppered Sprout rallied strongly on the run to the winning line and got up to win by one length from Penthouse Lad. The winning time was 22.15 for the 400 yds course.Bolton"s second winner was in the sixth race over 525 yds, where Knocknalyre Jack owned by Joe Rigney jnr from Cork took an early lead at the first bend, increasing to a long lead on the back straight. Notanine, owned in Meath by Paul Everard ran on gamely, but failed by three and a half lengths to catch the early leader. The time was a very respectable 29.71.The seventh race was an open sprint over 400 yds. Top class sprinter Northern raider Armagh Vieri owned by Robert Davidson from Armagh, went to post evens favourite.He showed brilliant early pace to the first bend and from there on the issue was never in doubt going on to win by five lengths from another Bolton trained dog Find the Time in the brilliant time of 21.52.The Joe Dolan Memorial Statue 525 sweepstake final run in conjunction with the unveiling of the Joe Dolan statue in the town centre at the weekend was the eighth race on the card.After his convincing win in the earlier round of this sweepstake, the Marcella Campbell (Laois) owned and trained, Home Lennon was a hot order at evens. He once again ran very impressively to score by a comfortable six lengths from Killua Dawn in the excellent time of 29.61.Local owner Tony Dalton from Ballinea, Mullingar provided the winner of the ninth race over 525 yds. The 6/4 favourite broke well and pleased his supporters by running on strongly to score an easy victory from Boot Room Boy. The winning time was 29.86.Frank Seery"s second leg of his double came in the tenth race over 600 yds.The Noreen Seery owned Strand Reta, going for her tenth success this year was well supported at 6/4 favourite. From a good start Strand Reta led the field to the first bend, however she appeared to get into some difficulties and was overtaken rounding the second bend into the back straight. Her staying ability came to the fore in the home straight and went on to win by a comfortable five lengths from Ballinter Jo in 34.00.One of the few outsiders took the eleventh race over 550 yds when the Co. Fermanagh charge Tahina Sonic, owned by Jason Croarkin was always in pole position and went on to win by five lengths from the Mary Jennings (Birr) owned Laughill Lad in a time of 31.33.The final race on the card was a closely contested affair over 525 yds. The winner Glory Johnny trained in Longford by Eddie Dunne for Co. Fermanagh owner Jim Valentine broke well from traps and held his position to hold off the challenge of the Helen Murtagh (Killucan) owned Liberty Desire in the useful time of 29.86.
