Kinnegad notes

The AGM of Kinnegad Community Council will be held on Monday the 12th of January 2009 at 8 p.m. in Serenity House on Main Street. The AGM will review priorities for the County Council in 2009.There will be an election of officers for the year and the Community Council is now looking for new members with new ideas. Even if you can only attend an occasional meeting or get involved with one of the sub groups you would be most welcome.The current sub groups are; Tidy Towns, Recreational facilities, Tourism initiatives, and Killucan Station Development Group. The wider the voice the greater the strength of the community to get Westmeath County Council to address some of the short falls in the area. This year the meeting will also look at progressing the secondary school campaign and a St Patrick"s Day parade in Kinnegad being organised by the Community Council and local groups and businesses.New Year arrangements for Kinnegad ParishWeekday morning Mass during the Christmas period is at 10 a.m. On New Year"s Day Mass for World Day of Peace is at 11 am. There will be a vigil Mass for the Epiphany at 8pm in Kinnegad on Monday the 5th of January with morning Mass on the 6th at 9am in Clonard, noon in Kinnegad and 8 pm in Coralstown. Confessions are at 2 to 4 pm and 7:30 to 9pm on Christmas Eve or by appointment on 0449375117. The bollards are removed from Clonard cemetery until the 11th Jan to facilitate Christmas visitation. Building contractors, plumbers, electricians, interested in the parish church at Clonard renovation project should contact the chairperson of the parish finance team before the 30th January 2009. The Knock Marriage Bureau for those considering marriage to a suitable partner is available on 0949375960. Amen is a support service for male victims of domestic abuse and it meets on Tuesday nights from 8 to 10 p.m. just contact 0469023718. You can use this number to book a Mass by leaving the name of the person or family to be prayed for and the date as well as your own phone number. Baptisms are at 5pm on the first Saturday of the month and at 1.15 on the 3rd Sunday with the Pre-Baptism meeting in Serenity House on the last Wednesday of the month at 8:30 p.m. and are facilitated by members of the parish baptism team.Kinnegad Coralstown Social ServicesThe social services team wants to wish all their members a Happy New Year. Anyone who wants to avail of free transport to and from Serenity House to any of the social nights please phone 9375629 or 9374186. New members are always very welcome to attend any or all of the activities. Serenity house is the ideal place to meet old friends and make new acquaintances.Mobile Phone appealIf you want to put those old mobile phones to great use missionaries of the Sacred Heart can recycle them to help their work. Please post he phones and batteries but no chargers to Mobile phone Recycling, PO box 23, Western Road, CorkHave a green Christmas season.Don"t forget to recycle the packaging and paper from Christmas. There are many campaigns to recycle cards and the Council have organised Christmas tree recycling for the New Year.
