Wrestling superstars come to Mullingar Arts Centre
It promises to be the event of the year when the superstars of Wrestling roll into Mullingar on Saturday afternoon, February 7.The Mullingar Arts Centre will be transformed into an exciting fighting arena for the occasion as some of the best wrestlers from the USA, Mexico, Japan and Europe line up to produce the thrills and the spills that everyone has come to expect from major league wrestling.Joining the superstars on this tour will be Goliath, "The Beast" from Sky TV"s Gladiators series. Better known in the wrestling ring as The Celtic Warrior, Goliath (or Barri Griffiths to give him his real name) stands six foot six inches and weighs in at 20 stone, with a body that looks like it was chiselled from stone, Barri has muscles in places that most of us don"t even have places - a terrifying sight to anyone who has to face him on Gladiators or in the wrestling ring.Another big name coming our way is the former Mr. USA - the six foot eight inches tall Broady Steele. Steele comes from the back streets of Brooklyn and flies into Ireland direct from a tour of Denmark. Also appearing on this tour will be Chad Collyer from Liberty, Indiana. Chad is a former WWE, TNA and Ring Of Honor (ROH) star. He is now regarded as a "Wrestler"s Wrestler" - a man who has the ability to tie up his opponent in knots and drag him face down all over the canvas.Coming in to Ireland from Osaka, Japan will be The Metal Master - the masked sensation from South America who is in the same mould as Rey Mysterio Jnr. This man will have you on the edge of your seats with his high-flying manoeuvres.Hailing from Scotland, "Highlander" Drew McDonald should cause a storm of controversy with his rule-breaking ways, while Robbie Dynamite is a four time Junior Heavyweight Champion. He has been a professional for 9 years and in that time he has faced some of the best known and toughest grapplers in the business.Mystico Del Rio from Sonara, Mexico follows the tradition of Mexican wrestlers - that of wearing a colourful mask in the ring. But unlike his countryman Rey Mysterio Jnr, Del Rio is one of the villains of the squared circle. He enters the ring wearing spikes on his shoulders similar to those of The Road Warriors and doesn"t waste any time in getting down to the business in hand. And if all that wasn"t enough, also featured will be a six-man elimination tag team contest. The rules are similar to those of the Royal Rumble, the only way a man can be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope onto the arena floor. There are no falls or submissions and no rules - anything goes. It"s every man for himself until there is just one man left standing.Tickets are available now from the Mullingar Arts Centre box office on 044 9347777.
