'Life Fragments' opens in Market House
A new exhibition called "Life Fragments" by award winning Irish artist, John Keating, opened recently at the Market House Gallery in the Market Square, Mullingar and runs until Saturday, March 21.Run in conjunction with the Mullingar Arts Centre, the exhibition will be hosting recent paintings from Keating"s solo exhibition in Milan"s prestigious Galleria Compagnia del Disegno, to the splendid surroundings of the Villa Serbelloni on the shores of Lake Como Italy.Born in Tipperary in 1953, John Keating studied at Crawford College of Art Cork, Trinity College Dublin, Loughborough University Leicestershire and The Arts Students League of New York, which he attended on a scholarship.This exhibition of recent paintings in oil, mixed media and charcoal focuses on certain fragments of the figure, luxuriant fruits and exotic flowers. The still life paintings also feature draped fabrics, exotic fruits and voluptuous bowls and vases.Ciaran Carty was quoted recently as saying 'Keating has somehow found in classical forms a metaphor for the increasingly fragmented and ephemeral nature of modern life. For a second everything is hyper real. A moment is glimpsed. Then it is gone in the rush of living.'Keating has exhibited nationally and internationally in the USA China, Spain, France, Monaco, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Taiwan and Italy.Check out his work at the Market House Gallery today.
