Metallitia return to the Stables
Ireland's number one tribute band Metallitia return to one of their favourite venues, The Stables in Mullingar this Saturday, January 23.The band, who recently won the reality TV series, Karl Spain Wants to Rock, on RTE 2, went on to represent Ireland and headline at the Glastonbudget festival at Thurmaston in Leicestershire in England at the end of May, closing the show with a barnstorming performance in front of 15,000 people. The lads have been enjoying an exceptionally high profile of late due to the scrap metal show, which saw the semi-final hosted by the Mullingar venue.Karl Spain Wants to Rock styled itself as a journey into the oddly familiar world of tribute bands around Ireland, going behind the scenes to explore the people behind the leading acts and the alternative universe they inhabit. The concept took 5 of Ireland's top tribute acts and put them on tour all over the country for a week in the company of legendary mentors like Bif Byford (Saxon), Brian Tatler (Diamond Head) and Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy). Over the course of four nights in different venues, one band was eliminated each night by the celebrity panel of Robertson aided by Kevin Courtney of the Irish Times and RTE2 DJ Cormac Battle (Kerbdog) to find the winning act on the final night at the Button Factory in Dublin.Prior to this Metallitia operated as backing band to renowned ex-Iron Maiden frontman Paul Di'Anno on his recent Irish tour in April. The lads backed up Paul for appearances in Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Dundalk and Dublin and revered local guitar supremo Gordon "Flash" Murphy was back in the chair as musical director for Di'Anno in this part of the world. These shows will undoubtedly be spoken of in awe for years to come by the Irish rock fraternity. The guys will be serving up a Metallica-flavoured set of cast-iron, 'bona fide' Lizzy nuggets at the "Vibe" such as Black Rose, Thunder and Lightning, Bad Reputation etc which is guaranteed to raise the rafters and send 'em home perspiring from the Stables"For info on the band check out www.metallitia.com
