Mullingar kids out in force for Pyjama Day

Thousands of euros were raised at childcare facilities in Mullingar recently, as local creches and Montessori schools joined in the National Children's Nurseries Association's National Pyjama Day on Friday, March 26.Every year, childcare facilities across the country get involved in this unique NCNA initiative, which raises funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As part of the day of celebrations, staff and children at local childcare outlets wore pyjamas for the day, and raised money through sponsorship. All sponsorship cards are due in shortly, and the final monies raised will go straight to Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes for children living with a life-threatening medical condition between the ages of 3 and 18.Childcare providers in Mullingar and Westmeath organised fun and games for children to coincide with Pyjama Day, and the assistance received from parents is much appreciated by organisers of the event locally.Rita Melia, National Childcare Policy Advisor for the NCNA, said that the success of the initiative relied heavily on childcare staff and parents engaging and participating. The NCNA's national fundraising target is €400,000, and the funds raised in Mullingar will go a long way to enabling Make-A-Wish to grant more wishes to children across the country.
