Scally to the rescue as Mullingar Town share the points

An Ethan Scally equaliser ten minutes from the end gave Mullingar Town a share of the points in a very enjoyable Combined Counties Football League Premier Division game against Ferbane side Gallen United in D’Alton Park on Sunday last.Mullingar Town played their best football of the season and should have beaten League leaders, Gallen United in this game. Mullingar Town were the better side and playing with the wind in the first half put Gallen United under great pressure and had four great chances of scoring goals, but the Gallon United ‘keeper made a great save from a Mark Coyne header after fifteen minutes and made saves from Jason Duff and Ethan Scally to keep a clean sheet.Mullingar’s back four on topThe Mullingar Town back four of Damien Groome, Jason Charles, Joe Cassidy and Gary Brady were on top and the Gallen United forwards could not get a shot in at the Town ‘keeper, Vinny McKevitt. Ethan Scally, Michael Grimes and Mark Coyne were on top in midfield and James Nevin and Jason Duff worked hard up front.In the second half Gallen United came more into the game with the wind at their backs, but the Town kept attacking the Gallen Untied goals, but Jason Duff and Michael Grimes were unlucky with their efforts on goals, but the Gallen ‘keeper made good saves.Gallen United went in front from a penalty midway through the second half against the run of play.
