Tickets selling fast for comic Joe Dolan play

Tickets are in huge demand for ‘The Night Joe Dolan’s Car Broke Down’ - a play by renowned director and playwright Padraic McIntyre, according to a spokesperson for the Mullingar Arts Centre, where the play will be staged on Thursday - Saturday, September 30 to October 2.Set in a rural pub in County Cavan on a stormy St. Stephen’s night as locals gather for the 60th birthday party of the legendary Horse Munley as the storm worsens and people head home a knock on the door brings the nights entertainment to a new level.Following on from the Carnival at Glenaduff, this new play features a host of local characters who people will easily identify with, each with their own story. As the play unfolds so, too, does the music and craic.Featuring live music ranging from the Wren Boys to Joe Dolan (played by John O’Grady) this play is a treat for all those who like a great night of theatre and music.Promoters suggest it could be described as “the Irish answer to Mamma Mia”, as well as a fitting and sensitive tribute to a man who was a music legend in this country.
