Shakers and Bouncers return due to popular demand

Back by popular demand, Rail Theatre’s production of Bouncers and Shakers will return to Mullingar Arts Centre for two nights next week, Friday and Saturday, November 12 and 13.On Friday, all proceeds with go to the Irish Friends of Pakistan to help the flood relief effort, which is being overseen by Mullingar resident Rashid Butt. Each night, the two comedy plays will run back to back, with a short interval, so those in the audience are in for a double helping of John Godber’s Bouncers and Shakers.Shakers features local starlets Siobhan Murphy, Olga Aughey, Niamh O’Shea and Jemma McNamee as Adele, Carol, Nicki and Mel, who play four waitresses working in an upmarket cocktail bar in present day Dublin. Hilariously funny and fast-paced, Shakers takes a look at the lives of the four girls and their aspirations, behind the glitz and the glamour of the cocktail bar.A challenging play requiring the four actors to become a multitude of other characters entering the bar. In the same light, Bouncers, which has been described as an “international cult hit” is set outside the doors of a dodgy Dublin disco with its bouncers who are both outrageous and hilarious.Again this play features a range of characters including a smooth talking dj, giggly girls, lads on the make all played by the four main characters of Eric (John Quinn), Les (Gary Nolan) Ralph (Aidan Ennis) and Judd (Neil Brady).Tickets on sale now from the Mullingar Arts Centre box office on 044 9347777 or from reception on Mount Street.
