Great demand for Gala Sports Stars of the Year Awards event 2010

There has been an unprecedented demand for tickets for the forthcoming Mullingar Park Hotel/Westmeath Examiner Sports Stars of the Month Gala event which is taking place in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Friday, February 4 next. Many of Westmeath’s finest sportsmen and women will be honoured on the evening have picked up monthly awards through 2010.

Unfortunately this year, the event will not be compered by Westmeath’s own Colm Murray, who is currently battling illness. Colm has been the host for past three years and brought an air of absolute professionalism, mixed with anecdote and good humour. In his unavoidable absence, his place will be taken by another RTE presenter, Robbie Irwin, who is best known for his role in radio. Already most of the monthly winners have been announced with the final award winners being revealed in the coming week.

Thereafter, the judges will be deciding on the final award, the Hall of Fame and that is expected to be announced at the end of January.
