Water still not flowing in some Kilbeggan taps
Westmeath County Council has defended itself against suggestions that it didn't do enough to keep people in Kilbeggan up to speed during the recent water crisis.Although the majority of homeowners in the Kilbeggan area had the water supply to their homes at least partially restored early last week, a number were still without water this week. One Main Street resident - without water for Christmas and New Year - told the Examiner it had been âvery difficultâand the situation was made worse by the lack of updates from Westmeath County Council.âI don't think that communication is the forte of Westmeath County Council. I looked at the website on Tuesday and it said that water would be cut off between 7pm and 7am. They missed the point though: we hadn't any water at all.âPublican Louise MacNevin from The Saddlers said the water went on December 26 and only came back on January 6. Although the pub was able to open, she said it was âimpossible with the toiletsâ.FOR MORE SEE Jan 15/11 edition
