Mullingar Pat Finnerty Memorial Road League
There were 608 finishers in round one of the Mullingar Road League 2012 at Belvedere House Park and Gardens last Wednesday evening, and a similarly large number is expected on Wednesday May 9.It's not just about fun, competition and exercise either, as this year's nominated charity, Mullingar Lions Club, will benefit too: instead of participants receiving a T-shirts or medals, part of the proceeds of the race will go to the Lions Club. The aim of Mullingar Road League is to promote participation in sport and physical activity and to honour the memory of Pat Finnerty, a former chairman of Mullingar Harriers. It caters for runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities, and the organisers encourage as many as possible to take part. It starts at 8pm.See here for round one results: http://mullingarharriers.com/.More photos in next week's Westmeath Examiner.
