Sophie's Cycle this weekend
Sophie's Cycle takes to the roads of the midlands this weekend.The sponsored cycle is being organised by paramedics from the midlands division of the national ambulance service to raise funds for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin.It is also a sign of support for one of their colleagues, who has a seriously ill child in the hospital.Sophie Mahon has been a patient in Crumlin since she was born last October. Her parents Leona and Hugh live in Tullamore. Leona is a paramedic based in Portlaoise ambulance station.The fun run cycle takes place on May 26 and 27 and will visit all the towns in the midlands where ambulance stations are located.It starts in Longford at 11.30 on Saturday, goes through Ballymahon 12.15, Athlone 1.30, Ballymore 2.30, Mullingar 3.30, Kinnegad 4.15, finishing in Edenderry 5.30.Organiser is Gerry McKeon (083 003746). Those with sponsorship cards are asked to bring them along, together with money collected, on Saturday or Sunday. Donate at any branch of AIB.
