Castlepollard gets on its bike for Aware
Get on your bike and support the Tesco Express Castlepollard team and help Aware to Beat the BluesAn exciting Cycle-thon fundraiser event is being arranged by the team at Tesco Express Castlepollard to raise funding for Aware, Tesco's Charity of the Year.The event is taking place on Friday September 7 in the store car park.Staff at Tesco Express Castlepollard, with the support of other shops in the shopping centre, including staff members from the butchers and the gym, will take turns cycling on two stationary bikes in the Centre Car Park from 8am to 8pm. There will also be fun for all the family with spot prizes and face painting for children on offer.Samantha Smyth, Charity of the Year Champion, Tesco Express, Castlepollard said: "We are really excited about our cycle-thon event and we would like to thank our neighbouring stores for getting involved and we are all looking forward to the cycle!"We hope that everyone from the community will come along and support us on the day, have some fun and help us raise as much funding as possible for Aware."Aware is the national organisation providing information, support and education around depression, a condition which affects more than 450,000 people in Ireland (one in ten) at any one time. Funds raised during the partnership in 2012 will go towards Beat the Blues, Aware's free secondary schools programme which helps create a better understanding of issues amongst pupils, teachers and parents. Depression affects many teenagers in Ireland and funds raised through the Tesco Charity of the Year partnership will enable Aware to deliver Beat the Blues to approximately 16,000 additional teenagers this year.The charity was chosen as Tesco's Charity of the Year for 2012 and 2013 earlier this year.
