Crowley features in historic London win
A Westmeath man was at the centre of London's first provincial championship win in 36 years, which took place in the British capital's Ruislip GAA venue last weekend.
Greg Crowley, a former footballer with The Downs and Westmeath who now lives and works in London, started at wing forward as the 14-man Exiles sent Sligo packing in the Connacht senior football championship on Sunday.
London were awarded a 30th minute penalty after Crowley was impeded, a kick subsequently missed by Padraic McCormack (a Sligo native himself).
But 1-2 from Lorcan Mulvey ensured an historic victory for Thamesiders, and remarkably, they are now just 70 minutes away from a Connacht final. They meet Leitrim in the last four on June 23.
Crowley was a member of The Downs' hugely successful side of the early-to-mid 2000s, winning Westmeath SFC medals in 2003 and 2005.
