It's Murphy's Law... on the road
The day we received the before photo (right) from our reader Chloe Browne (yesterday, Monday June 24), Westmeath County Council went to fix a pothole near Killalon that she had been complaining about.
Chloe and her mother had checked on Sunday and the pothole was still there, but when they passed that way on Monday evening it had been fixed.
In this week’s print edition of the Westmeath Examiner, out this morning, we published the before photo with an appeal to the council to fix the road.
Today (Tuesday June 25) Chloe contacted us again with the good news and sent the after photo (below).
She wrote: “Despite the numerous calls to fix the pothole, no answers were sent back, so residents were unaware that the situation was going to be fixed, some months after it had first appeared.
“Residents from around the area are very grateful that the pothole has been fixed and is no longer a danger to drivers, and hope that from now on the council will fix problems as they arise, as opposed to months later.”
The Examiner says, credit where it’s due. Fair play to the county council and the road repair team.
