Don't drought it!
Yes, Met Eireann have officially confirmed that most of Ireland is an a state of “absolute drought” today after 15 consecutive days of rainfall less than 0.1mm.
We haven’t experienced conditions like this since the glorious summer of 1995 and 1976, and once again, water restrictions are expected to be imposed across many areas.
The tropical temperatures are expected to continue well into August remaining in the high twenties! It’s thought that the blistering heat could spark isolated thunder spells.
Already, two weather stations have recorded drought conditions, Dublin Airport and Moorepark in Meath.
The elderly and people with respiratory and heart conditions are being advised to stay indoors during peak heat times.
Keep cool, stay hydrated, and apply sun factor. Also, with many animal hospitals reporting a surge in dehydrated animals, make sure to leave out water for your pets, and don’t leave them in cars.
