Mullingar Order of Malta needs you!
The Order of Malta Ambulance Corps is a voluntary ambulance and first aid organisation with over 4,000 volunteers involved in over 80 units across Ireland.
They are a major provider of excellence in first aid training, ambulance cover at large events, patient transport, community care, nursing services and assistance to other charities in most of the major cities and towns across the island.
The Mullingar Unit has had a busy summer of first aid and ambulance duties including local sporting events, patient transport and national events such as Oxegen, Electric Picnic and, in two weeks’ time, the National Ploughing Championships.
To meet the increasing demand for their services, the Mullingar Unit are looking for new volunteers to join them. They are running a course for new members, starting on Wednesday September 18 at 8.30pm in St Mary’s Day Care Centre, St Mary’s Hospital, Mullingar.
Members must be over 16 years of age and no previous first aid experience is necessary as full training will be provided. The initial basic training course for new members takes approximately 10 weeks. Cadets
Our Cadets are the junior section of the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps and are aged between 10 and 16 years old. Cadets meet and train every Wednesday evening at 7pm in St Mary’s Day Care Centre.
Order of Malta Cadets is a recognised National Youth organisation and a member of the National Youth Council of Ireland. Cadets are trained in basic lifesaving skills, First Aid, CPR and assisting with activities of daily living. They attend annual competitions at both a Regional and National level, which run in conjunction with a National Cadet Weekend.
Cadets attend first aid duties with members of the senior unit at events such as GAA matches, fun days, athletics and other sporting activities.
The Order of Malta provides opportunities for Cadets to have fun through outdoor activities, discos, sports, crafts, hobbies and competitions.
