Problems cropped up regarding the €4.13m Mullingar watermains rehabilitation project contracted out to the company ShareRidge at this week’s Town Council meeting.
“Nothing had changed” according Cllr Ken Glynn regarding the repair of roads during the upgrade of town’s water system, referring to rough surfaces in the Clonmore Industrial Estate.
“Another rough surface has been left in Clonmore. Nothing has changed to convince me anything is any better,” said Cllr Glynn.
“Cyclists have to stop and get off the roads,” he added.
In a written response from Westmeath County Council it stated that the ShareRridge works are due for completion by Friday December 20.
“Temporary reinstatement of tenches and excavations is carried out as the work progresses,” the reply stated.
“The contractor has a work crew dedicated to permanent reinstatement and it is intended to have as much permanent reinstatement carried out as is possible before Christmas.”
The FF councillor had requested a time frame as to when the footpath and roads would be fully re-instated to the highest standard.
