Westmeath continue O'Byrne Cup campaign tonight

WESTMEATH continue their O’Byrne Cup football campaign later today (Wednesday) when they take on DCU in Paul Bealin’s second competitive game in charge of the team.

The Lake County showed up quite well in Bealin’s first game in charge against Dublin last weekend, eventually losing by a single point at Cusack Park, Mullingar.

This evening’s meeting with DCU will take place in St Loman’s, Mullingar at 7.45pm, with Dublin playing Louth in the other Group D fixture. Westmeath’s final group game, against Louth, will be played on Sunday in Drogheda (2pm).

Meanwhile, Athlone IT will be hoping to recover from a heavy defeat to Kildare in their opening O’Byrne Cup Group B match last weekend. Martin McCabe’s troops found the going tough against a very good Lilywhites side in Newbridge and will be hoping for better when they take on Carlow this evening in Carlow IT (7.45pm). Athlone IT’s O’Byrne Cup campaign will continue against Longford on Sunday at Ballymahon (2pm).
