Rathowen sewerage system to be upgraded
The news that funding has been secured to upgrade the sewerage system in Rathowen has been warmly welcomed by Cllr Avril Whitney.
Rathowen native Cllr Whitney spoke of her relief after she received confirmation from Westmeath County Council that a substantial sum of money is being allocated to upgrade the sewerage system in Rathowen.
“I am delighted that this funding has come on stream. I had been working on behalf of Rathowen Community Development to ensure that the fantastic work that has been carried out on the community park would not become undone as a result of the treatment plant at the bottom of the park being maintained. This upgrading and combining of sewers will ensure that Westmeath County Council will only require access to the Windtown Park treatment plant which has already been taken in charge and is been maintained by the Council.
“I am sure the residents of Rathowen will join me in welcoming this great news” concluded Councillor Whitney.
Works are due to commence on the upgrade in the coming months.
