Loreto bow out of All-Ireland despite McLoughlin magic

Crookedwood's Julie McLoughlin fired 1-5 in today's All-Ireland Colleges senior 'D' camogie semi-final, but Loreto College, Mullingar ultimately bowed out to a strong second half performance by Dublin side Dominican College (1-12 to 1-6).

The Mullingar school and Leinster 'D' champions led for much of the first half, with McLoughlin rattling Dominicans 'keeper Ciara Tierney's net midway through.

However, Dominicans picked up the pace and led by the minimum at half time (0-7 to 1-3).

Loreto kept battling, but a killer goal from Dominicans corner forward Ciara Byrne put daylight between the sides at a key point in the game.

Leah Dunne and Fiona Glynn performed well at the back for the Mullingar outfit, but it was the Dominican College defence who had the better of the second half, keeping Loreto at bay to secure a six-point win.
