Slight dole queue increase in Mullingar

The number of people signing on in Mullingar rose slightly last month.

According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), there were 4,671 adults on the live register in Mullingar on March 31, an increase of nine on the previous month.

In Castlepollard, the number of people signing on on March 31 was 1,151, 15 more than at the end of February.

The social welfare office in Athlone was only one in the county to record a decrease in March, with 3941 signing on at the end of the month, down from 3,973 in February.

Overall, the number of people signing on in the county on March 31 was 9,763, a drop of eight from the end of February.
