Over a thousand from Westmeath to attend Dublin rally
Wind farm campaigners are anticipating that at least a thousand people from Westmeath will travel to Dublin tomorrow, Tuesday, for a protest rally against windfarms and electricity pylons.
Buses are leaving from locations all around the county, and others are planning to travel by car and train, in time to assemble at Parnell Square at 11 am, for a march to the gates of Dáil Éireann.
Comments over the weekend by Energy Minister, Pat Rabbitte, to the effect that it was "unrealistic" to believe that the agreement necessary for the export of wind power from the midlands to the UK would happen in time for the EU's 2020 wind trading deadline, are unlikely to impact on the numbers attending, believes Andrew Duncan, PRO for the Lakeland Wind Information Group.
