Eleven face charges over Ballyglass incidents

A further eleven people have been brought before Mullingar District Court in relation to incidents which occurred at Ballyglass Cemetery at the annual Cemetery Sunday devotions last year.

Ten of those who appeared had addresses in Cavan, Louth, Offaly, Dublin and Westmeath while a bench warrant was issued for the final defendant who failed to appear in court.

Judge Seamus Hughes was informed that all of the accused formed part of one of the two factions which were involved in a controntation at Ballyglass on August 4 last. He heard that some members of the second faction had appeared at a previous court sitting while others were still to be brought before the courts.

Inspector Jarlath Folan, who appeared for the DPP, asked that any of the defendants who intend to attend Cemetery Sunday in Ballyglass this coming August, give notification to Sgt Paddy Hannan a week in advance of the ceremonies.
