Wake in the West of Mullingar opens tonight

The comedy play Wake in the West of Mullingar opens tonight, Wednesday May 21, for a four night run in the Greville Arms Hotel.

Featuring plenty of familiar faces including Pauline Kinsella, Richie Geoghegan, Christy Cole, Joe O'Hehir, Chris Corroon, Jean Hynes, Karl Magee, Antoinette Ahern and Brian Crum, Wake in the West of Mullingar is a the debut production from new drama group Mullingar Theatre Lab.

Director Alan Conroy says "The story is set in the recent past outside of Mullingar. It's set in the sitting room of a house where the wake is taking place. The man who died has left a will with a couple of requests, which for various reasons, his family and neighbours find it difficult to grant his last wishes.

"I can't say too much without giving it away but it's a hilarious story line."

Wake in the West of Mullingar runs Wednesday May 21 - Saturday May 24 at 8pm.
