Sullivan comes close to tidy double
Just a short head separated Streete jockey, James P Sullivan from scoring a handsome double at Hamilton yesterday afternoon.
Attached to the Michael Easterby yard, Sullivan’s services had been engaged by trainers Kristin Stubbs, in the opener, and Ruch Carr later in the meeting.
He was aboard 6/1 shot Multiplier in the first on the card and drove Stubbs horse to victory, after coming with a late surge.
Riding 5/1 favourite, Meshardal for Ruth Carr, Sullivan took the lead inside the last two furlongs and looked to be on course for victory only to be edged out by the fast finishing Alexandrakollontai, virtually on the line.
