Stars come out to pay tribute to the late Vinny Baker
A very special tribute night to Mullingar musician Vinny Baker will take place in the Greville Arms this June.
Taking place on his birthday, Tuesday June 24, mountain and blueglass and legendary fiddle player George Kaye will travel all the way from Germany for the Vinny Baker Tribute Concert, and will join the likes of Mick Foster and Tony Allen, Chris Loughrey and many more who either played or recorded with Vinny throughout the years.
The night is in aid of a very special cause which was very close to Vinny’s heart, with all proceeds going to the St Camillius Residents Comfort Fund in Killucan.
One of the men behind the event is his writing partner Danny Slevin, who got to know Vinny in the late 60s, and says he was an extraordinary musician who could turn his hand to any instrument.
“Vinny was an extraordinary musician. He was one of the best guitar players in the country.”
Tickets for the Vinny Baker Tribute Concert in the Greville Arms are available from the Greville on 044 9348563 and from Days Bazaar on 044 9348251
