Westmeath trio named on team of the year

Three Westmeath players have been named on the Ladies Football Division 2 team of the year.

Midfielder Maud Annie Foley (Coralstown Kinnegad), was joined by fellow county stalwarts Johanna Maher and Fiona Leavy on the team of the year, which was announced yesterday evening at a gala event held in Croke Park. Westmeath had the second highest contingent in the team after Galway, who beat Martin Flanagan's charges in the league final last month.

Maher, who was also named on the Division 2 team of the year last season, was named at left half forward while Fiona Leavy was named at left corner forward.

Westmeath missed out on promotion to Division 1 after losing to Galway in the league final on May 10 on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-9.
