Chris on top of the world as he scores his first No 1

Rochfortbridge singer Chris Loughrey is on top of the world today, having, overnight, raced up the Irish country music charts to claim the number 1 spot.

 

"I spoke to the Westmeath Examiner's Olga Aughey about my new single 'Just To See You Smiile' - and imagine my surprise to wake up this morning and find I had a number 1 hit," said a delighted Chris today, Friday.

Just to See You Smile was released on iTunes at 9 am yesterday morning, and just before 1 am this morning, Chris seized the top spot, giving him his first Number One hit ever.

Fifteen years in the business, Chris has earned his stripes through long hours on the road, gigging and touring.

In 2009, he did a tour of Nashville and last year, he toured Spain.

At present, he is preparing for the launch tour for his new album, 'Here for a good time', which is due for release on September 18.

Just to See You Smile is released on emeraldmusic.co.uk, and it was produced by George Doherty, who has had a number of No 1 hits in the past including with Jive Bunny.
