Garda appeal to car owners

 

The gardaí in Mullingar have renewed their appeal to car owners in the wake of a significant increase in thefts from unattended vehicles in and around the town.

It what amounts to a near epidemic, there has been an alarming growth in car crime in recent weeks, a garda spokesperson has confirmed.

It is understood quite a few of the incidents occurred in the vicinity of Ballyglass Cemetery while the car owners were visiting the graves of loved ones.

Another blackspot is along the N52 while in one recent incident, another of vehicles in the one housing estate were broken in pre-dawn raids.
