Revised water charge plans unveiled
The government has just unveiled its revised plans for charging for water.
The key measures are:
- Annual cap of €160 for single adult households and €260 for all others.
- Legislative provision to allow capping continue after 2019
- Water conservation grant of €100 per year to all “eligible” households (“eligible” households are those that register.
- For metered bills, the charge for water in/out is reduced to €3.70 per 1,000 litres
- Starting date for domestic water charging is moved back to January 1 next; with first bills due from the first week of April 2015
- PPS numbers not required.
- Households with either water supply only or sewerage only to pay 50 per cent of the new rates.
