John joes december 13 fight in new york

John Joe Nevin has just received word of his next fight date - December 13, in New York.

"I haven't been told who it is yet - but I'm really looking forward to it," said the Olympic medallist, last night, speaking to the Westmeath Examiner.

"They've to tell me yet where the fight is taking place: I just know it's in New York."

John Joe knocked out England's Jack Heath in just 88 seconds in his first pro fight in Ireland at the 3 Arena last week.

He is donating the gloves from that fight to his friend and fellow-Mullingar man,  John Lynch, to arrange a charity auction.

John Lynch and Marty Mulligan, also from Mullingar, were both with John Joe as he disclosed his next fight date last night.

The two were also with him at his first professional fight, in the US over the St Patrick's Weekend.

Reveals Marty, John Joe won himself a whole set of new fans during that St Patrick's Weekend - not least, the band The Dropkick Murphys.
