This is the hardest time of year for mullingar dog rescue centre
Friends of Animals director Mary Chundee says this is one of the hardest times of the year for the dog rescue centre based a Cullionbeg.
Moreover, she is mystified by a number of rescues that have turned up on her doorstep recently, a pair of shih tzus and a pair of Glen of Imaal terriers, dogs which she says are extremely sought after.
However, Mary warns that if someone is seriously contemplating taking on a dog, it’s best to do it in January, after the Christmas period is over.
“We have some lovely dogs who’d love a home," says Mary Chundee, director of Friends of Animals.
“This is one of the hardest times of the year. The money dries out with people thinking about Christmas. The weather is dark and cold so we have high electricity bills with heat lamps.
“We need financial help, for veterinary bills, and care. People can get money to us through PayPal or they can send it to us in the post.”
