Mullingar hospital required almost 1500 units of blood last year
Mullingar Hospital required 1,457 units of blood in 2013, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service has revealed, as it extended thanks to the 340 donors who attended the recently-held clinic at The Annebrook House Hotel in Mullingar.
Of that number, 35 were former donors and 23 were first time donors.
Across the country, approximately 3,000 donations a week are required for over 1,000 patients.
Announcing the figures, the service extended its thanks to local voluntary organisers, Marie O’Callaghan and Jim McAuley for their continued efforts.
It also extended thanks to the local Red Cross, and to the Annebrook House Hotel, for their help and support prior to and during the clinic.
