No justification for ardilaun bomb says clarke
Those responsible for the viable explosive found in Ardilaun late on Monday night have "no respect for the decent, hardworking people living in the area".
That's according to Cllr Sorca Clarke, who lives close by. The Sinn Fein representative slammed those involved for "endangering lives in this community, our community".
“This is a residential area and home to families and young children. The fact that some of them were forced to leave their homes during the night because of this mindless action is absolutely disgraceful. Anyone could have been killed or maimed by this device had it gone off and credit must be given to the Army Bomb Disposal Team and Gardaí for ensuring the safety of the residents".
“This was perpetrated by a few who have no respect for the decent, hardworking people of this area. The people of this community are vehemently opposed to this type of behaviour. There can be no justification for this reckless act".
"I urge anyone with any information to contact Mullingar Garda Station and also to remind anyone in the area with CCTV systems on their homes to review the footage for any behaviour that could assist in ensuring that these individuals are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law".
