Epic adventure for dingle film festival
The latest documentary by Meath filmmaker Vincent McEntee, which features Larry Mulligan from Mullingar, was screened at Dingle Film Festival on Sunday.
‘Endure’ is the inspiring story of two friends, Kevin McHugh from Navan and Larry, who took on the cycling challenge of covering 26,000km and 27 countries in 300 days. They were accompanied by Eoin McCartney from Ardee for the last 10,000km.
They crossed the open plains of South America, the jungles of India, endured the monsoons of Vietnam and Iran’s war-torn borders, and it was all captured with a GoPro camera.
Vincent, from Castletown Kilpatrick, is an up-and-coming Irish filmmaker and close friend of Larry and Kevin. He had to edit more than 80 hours of footage the duo captured during their time on the road.
“The moment I learned of their decision to cycle around the world, I knew I had to be a part of it,” he said.
“It was a tough task to narrow down 80 hours into 72 minutes. It took a year of post-production, but we’re really proud of the film and have been extremely humbled by the positive response it has received so far,” he said.
‘Endure’ has previously screened at film festivals in Galway, Cork, Clones and most recently at Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.
Through their journey, Larry, Kevin and Eoin raised €32,500 for the Irish Cancer Society.
