Robbie henshaw special for westmeath county matters
Westmeath County Matters is bringing out a sports theme show on the evening of St Patrick’s Day.
It is a show that is devoted to Westmeath’s Robbie Henshaw, the former Marist pupil and Buccaneers player who went onto play for Ireland.
Westmeath County Matters features an interview with Tony Colgan, principal of the Marist school, who recalls how Robbie was popular while there and how he would also help out others.
He commented that this was a good reflection on the ethos of the school, where like a big family, everyone’s name is known by everyone else.
The show also features an interview with Marist head coach Mick Loftus, who recalls how Robbie developed on the Marist rugby fields.
The Westmeath team also paid a visit to Dubarry Park during the Buccaneers versus Harlequins game, and met Buccaneers PRO Michael Silk and another Buccaneers official, Ronan Bushell, who said Robbie was something special and went into a different orbit to the rest of the players when he was only 15 years of age.
The show also covers the recent Westmeath Independent sports awards. It features interviews with some of the representatives of the local hockey team, players Anna McCullagh and Anna McGann, as well as with boxer Cheyenne O’Neill.
There was also an interview with Robbie Henshaw, who won the Sports Personality of the Year award.
Westmeath County Matters is broadcast on Tuesdays at 8pm. It may be found on Sky Channel 191.
