St lomans hospital evacuated suspicious package discovered

St Loman's Hospital, Mullingar, has been evacuated as an envelope containing a "suspicious powder" was discovered.

Gardaí are at the scene and are awaiting the arrival of the Army EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) team who are travelling from Athlone.

It is understood that an envelope containing the powder substance was opened by a member of staff earlier today, Wednesday March 18.
