Silvestras stoskus murder edenderry canal searched
Divers from the Garda Water Unit have searched a stretch of the Grand Canal in Edenderry, Co Offaly.
It’s understood the search is related to the murder of 20-year-old Silvestras Stoskus last month.
Mr Stoskus’s remains were discovered in a field at Cornamucklagh, Broadford, Co Kildare on Wednesday, March 18. He had been missing from his home at Bun Daire in Kinnegad for ten days before his remains were discovered.
Last month Gardai investigating Mr Stoskus’s murder removed clothes found at a laneway in Edenderry. The clothes, which were discovered at a laneway near the Grand Canal in the town, were removed and handed over to Gardai in Leixlip.
It's understood Gardai investigating Mr Stoskus's murder decided to return yesterday and carry out a follow up search of the canal for any evidence connected to the murder.
Gardaí in Leixlip began a murder investigation after a post mortem was carried out on Mr Stoskus's remains. The post mortem results were not released for operational reasons but it’s believed Mr Stoskus suffered a violent death.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have seen or spoken to Silvestras Stoskus between March 8 and March 18.
