Have you registered for the darkness into light 5k yet
While it may be pouring it down outside, the Darkness Into Light team in Mullingar's HQ, are busy preparing for tomorrow morning's walk.
A steady stream of people are signing up for this year's event, getting under way from Columb Barracks at 4.15am, Saturday.
Last year saw a staggering 1,200 take part in the Mullingar event, and this year organisers estimate there to be an even bigger turnout.
"We've been busy all day with people coming into us, registering and collecting T-shirts," says Anna Hayden, one of the organisers involved in the Pieta House campaign, which have set up a pop-up shop beside the Greville Arms Hotel on Pearse Street.
While the Westmeath Examiner were there, Barry Mcwey from Mullingar and Noreen Faherty from Collinstown, were just two of a long line of people registering and collecting their t-shirts for 5k walk, now celebrating it's seventh year.
And it's good news on the weather front too. The rain is set to come to a halt overnight. In it's place a slight fog or mist, giving way to sunshine early in the morning. Nevertheless, make sure to wrap up warm and enjoy as the darkness gives way to the light!
