Marriage referendum result expected within two hours
A result from the Longford/Westmeath count centre in Kenagh on the marriage referendum is expected within the next hour and a half to two hours.
Based on the tallies available, the result is expected to show a majority in favour of the constitutional amendment allowing same sex marriage.
Longford, however, is looking like a No vote.
Poor internet coverage at Kenagh means that journalists and lobbyists alike are frustrated as they try to get detail out from the centre.
The strongest yes vote was recorded in box 67, a Mullingar Town West box at Educate Together National School. Out of the 203 valid votes cast there, 74.38 per cent were yes and 25.62 per cent no. There were five spoiled votes.
The second highest yes vote was recorded at St Etchen’s in Kinnegad, where it was 72.98 per cent yes and 27.02 per cent no.
Athlone’s highest yes vote was Box 11, Athlone Town East 4, from Brawney CC polling station. It showed a 68.8 per cent yes vote, with Athlone’s second highest yes vote coming at the Boys NS Fair Green, Box 5, which had a 67.89 per cent Yes vote.

The Yes vote was highest in the Mullingar/Coole constituency, at 58.15 per cent, while in Athlone it was 56.43 per cent and in Mullingar/Kilbeggan, 45.09 per cent.
In a small number of boxes, the No vote was higher than the Yes, the tallies indicate.
